Walkable from the city quays; the big-ship South Harbour needs a shuttle or a long walk.

Where ships dock

  • South Harbour (Bay of Nigg; larger ships up to about 300 m, opened to cruise ships in 2023)
  • North Harbour quays in the city: Blaikies, Duthies and Clipper Quays (smaller ships)

Getting to town

From North Harbour you walk into the centre: about 15 minutes from Blaikies Quay and about 20 minutes from Duthies and Clipper Quays (VisitAberdeenshire cruise map). From South Harbour it is about a 45-minute walk through Torry on the signed route, so most people use the ship's shuttle coach or a taxi.

The centre is compact: Union Street, the Maritime Museum on Shiprow and Marischal College are close together. Old Aberdeen and St Machar's Cathedral are about 30 minutes' walk or a short bus or taxi ride north. Union Square bus station and the railway station on Guild Street serve trips to Stonehaven (Dunnottar Castle).
