Belfast is easy once in the center, but you need the shuttle or a taxi.

Where ships dock

  • Stormont Wharf (main cruise berth, about 3.5 km from the center)
  • Pollock Dock (smaller ships)

Getting to town

You can't walk out through the working harbor. A shuttle (free or paid, depending on your line) usually drops at the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre by City Hall, about 10–20 minutes. Taxis wait at the berth.

From City Hall, the G2 Glider bus runs to Titanic Quarter (about 25–30 minutes on foot). Black-cab tours cover the murals. The Giant's Causeway is about 1h15 each way by road: take a tour.

Money & entry

Currency: British pound (£). Contactless cards are accepted almost everywhere.

Entry: U.S. citizens need a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before traveling, including on cruises that call at UK ports. It costs £20 on GOV.UK (beware look-alike sites charging more), lasts 2 years or until your passport expires, and since Feb 25, 2026 carriers must refuse boarding without one. Apply on GOV.UK or the official "UK ETA" app. (Checked Oct 2026.)
