HafenCity and Altona put you close to the sights with good transit; Steinwerder needs a taxi or bus.
Where ships dock
- Cruise Center HafenCity (Überseequartier, in the city center; new terminal since spring 2025)
- Cruise Center Altona (west of the center)
- Cruise Center Steinwerder (across the Elbe; used by the largest ships)
Getting to town
From HafenCity you are already downtown: the Elbphilharmonie and Speicherstadt are a short walk, and U4 Überseequartier station is inside the terminal complex (one stop to Jungfernstieg, two to the main station). From Altona, bus 111 or ferry 62 links to Landungsbrücken. Steinwerder is the least convenient: it is about a 20-minute walk to the Argentinienbrücke ferry and bus stop, or take a taxi (about 20 minutes to the main station).
Excellent U-Bahn, S-Bahn, bus and HADAG harbor ferries (part of the hvv network). Taxis wait at all terminals. Check your terminal before you plan the day.
