You land at the walls of a compact old town with beaches right outside the gates.
Where ships dock
- Ships under about 150 m berth in the port and you walk ashore near the Gare Maritime de la Bourse or Quai Vauban
- Larger ships (up to about 250 m) moor on buoys in the Rance estuary and tender in to the Gare Maritime de la Bourse, at the foot of the ramparts
Getting to town
Either way you arrive at the foot of the walls of the old town (intra-muros), a few minutes' walk from the gates.
Walk: the walled town, the ramparts and the beaches are all on foot. At low tide you can walk out to the Grand Bé island. Shuttle boats cross the Rance to Dinard from the Gare Maritime de la Bourse (Compagnie Corsaire, about 10 minutes, roughly every 20 minutes in season). Mont-Saint-Michel is about an hour by road: take a tour.
