Where ships dock
- Deep Water Terminal at Arnish (larger ships, opened 2024), across the harbour from town
- No. 1 and No. 3 Piers in the inner harbour (smaller ships), with a tender pontoon beside the ferry terminal
Getting to town
From the Deep Water Terminal a port-arranged shuttle bus takes about 15 minutes to Cromwell Street Quay in the town centre. Walking takes about 45 minutes through the Lews Castle Grounds. From the inner-harbour piers or tender pontoon you are already in town.
Calanais (Callanish) Standing Stones are about 17 miles away: the W2 West Side bus stops near the visitor centre, but departures are only a few a day and there is no Sunday service, so most people use a ship tour or a pre-booked taxi. Taxis can collect at the Deep Water Terminal by prior arrangement.
