Entry: Mainland China: U.S. citizens normally need a visa, but two exemptions can apply. (1) Cruise tour groups of 2+ organized by a China-registered travel agency may enter visa-free at Tianjin's cruise port for up to 15 days, staying with the ship. (2) 240-hour visa-free transit for U.S. citizens with onward travel to a third country. Embarking or ending a cruise here usually needs a visa or the 240-hour transit: confirm with your cruise line.
