Getting to town
The terminals back right onto the old town. Plaza de San Juan de Dios is at the port exit, and the Cathedral and Mercado Central are about 10–12 minutes on foot. No tender.
The old town is flat and walkable; taxis wait outside the terminal. For Seville: walk about 10–12 minutes (around 800 m) to Cádiz train station at Plaza de Sevilla, then take a direct Renfe Media Distancia train to Sevilla Santa Justa, about 1h45 each way. From Santa Justa it's about a 25–30 minute walk or a short taxi to the Cathedral. Jerez is about 35–45 minutes by train.

Seville in a day from Cádiz
- Walk to the train: from the cruise terminal it is about 10–12 minutes (around 800 m, flat) along Avenida del Puerto to Cádiz station at Plaza de Sevilla. Arrive about 20 minutes early; there is a bag scanner.
- Trains: direct Renfe Media Distancia trains run to Sevilla Santa Justa, about 1h40–1h50 each way. Recent weekday timetables show morning departures around 6:45, 8:40 and 9:40 am, and returns from Seville around 12:40 pm and 2:45 pm (arriving Cádiz about 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm). Times change by season and day: confirm on renfe.com for your date and book both trains ahead.
- In Seville: Santa Justa is about a 25–30 minute walk or a short taxi from the Cathedral and Alcázar. Book their timed tickets for your arrival window.
- Back-on-board margin: with an 8 am arrival you will usually reach Seville around 10:20 am at the earliest, so expect roughly 2–4 hours in the city. Take the return train that gets you to Cádiz at least 60–90 minutes before all-aboard; the later afternoon train leaves almost no buffer for a delay. If your ship's all-aboard is 5:30 pm, the train arriving Cádiz around 4:30 pm is the last sensible option, and the earlier one is safer.
- The ship will not wait for a late train. If that risk worries you, book the ship's Seville excursion, or spend the day in Cádiz and Jerez instead.
Safety & tips
- Seville on your own: about 1h45 each way by Renfe Media Distancia train leaves only about three hours in Seville. Book specific outbound and return trains on renfe.com in advance; early trains fill on cruise days.
- If you go, take the earliest practical train and plan to be on a train back about 4 hours before all-aboard (for a 5:30 pm all-aboard, no later than about 1:30 pm). A rail delay will not hold the ship.
- If you want a guaranteed return, the ship's Seville excursion is the safer choice.
- Many shops close for siesta, roughly 2–5 pm.

From the old town it's a 5–25 minute walk back. Coming back from Seville, allow up to 1h50 on the train plus the walk from the station, and aim to be aboard well before all-aboard.
Ship time can differ from local time. Your ship won't wait for independent travelers.
