You dock in town and glacier shuttles are simple to book. Just book them before you arrive.

Where ships dock

  • Downtown berths on S. Franklin Street (AS, CT and Franklin docks)
  • AJ Dock (about 1โ€“1.5 miles south; shuttle)

Getting to town

Downtown berths put you right on S. Franklin Street, with shops, restaurants and tour pickups steps away. From AJ Dock, take the shuttle (free or about $5 all day, depending on line) or walk about 25โ€“30 minutes through an industrial area.

Mendenhall Glacier is about 12โ€“13 miles out. Private glacier shuttles from the terminal take about 30 minutes each way, and permits are limited, so book ahead. The Capital Transit city bus is $2 but can take up to 1.5 hours each way, including a 1.5-mile walk from the nearest stop.
