Getting to town
You land on the central harbourfront. Sappho Square and Ermou, the main shopping street, are a short walk; Mytilene Castle is about 15 minutes uphill from Sappho Square (€5 entry; closed Tuesdays in summer).
Walk the town. Astiko KTEL city buses start at Sappho Square. The KTEL Lesvos bus to Petra and Molyvos (Mithymna) takes about 90 minutes each way, so it only suits a long call; a taxi or a tour is quicker. Agree taxi fares before you go.
