Where ships dock

  • Sendai port district of Sendai–Shiogama port: Takamatsu Wharf No. 2 (usual) or Nakano Wharf No. 1. Some small expedition ships use Ishinomaki instead

Getting to town

The berth is a closed cargo quay, so you can't walk out. Taxis wait on the quay; JR Nakanosakae station is about 10 minutes away (JR Tagajo is the other nearby station). Some ships run a shuttle to a station: check your daily programme.

From Nakanosakae, the JR Senseki Line reaches Sendai in about 18 minutes, Hon-Shiogama in 9 and Matsushima-Kaigan in 20 (only trains bound for Takagimachi, Ishinomaki or Matsushima-Kaigan go that far). Suica and other IC cards work on JR and Sendai's Loople sightseeing bus.
