Where ships dock

  • Gapura Surya Nusantara passenger terminal, Tanjung Perak port (a 500 m stretch of quay reserved for cruise ships)

Getting to town

The terminal is in Tanjung Perak, Indonesia's second-busiest port, about 8 to 10 km north of the city centre. It isn't walkable: allow 30 to 40 minutes by car in normal traffic and more at rush hour. Lines sometimes run a shuttle to a central mall.

Blue Bird metered taxis and the Grab and Gojek ride-hailing apps work from the terminal. A car and driver for the day is the most practical way to link several sights. Ship tours go to the city sights or, on long calls, to Mount Bromo (about 3.5 to 4 hours each way).
