A tender and a short lift ride put you in the centre of town.

Where ships dock

  • No cruise pier: ships anchor in the bay and tender to Marina Piccola, the harbour at the foot of the cliffs

Getting to town

Sorrento sits on top of a cliff above Marina Piccola. From the tender landing, walk about 5 minutes along the shore to the Sorrento Lift, which climbs to the Villa Comunale gardens (€1.20 one way, €2.20 return; from 7 a.m.). Piazza Tasso is about 6 minutes' walk from the top. You can also walk up the steep road and steps.

Walk the town. For Pompeii, EAV trains on the Naples–Sorrento line run from Sorrento station to Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri. Ferries from Marina Piccola go to Capri, Positano and Amalfi. The Amalfi Coast road is best on a tour.
