The terminal is close to downtown, but the State Department rates Trinidad and Tobago Level 3 (Reconsider travel) for crime: use the ship's tours or a reputable licensed operator.

Where ships dock

  • Cruise Ship Complex (King's Wharf) on Wrightson Road, about 800 m west of Independence Square

Getting to town

Downtown and the Brian Lara Promenade are about 10 to 15 minutes' walk east; Queen's Park Savannah, the Magnificent Seven mansions and the Botanic Gardens are 25 to 35 minutes on foot, so take a taxi.

Ship's tour recommended. If you go independently, use only licensed H-plate taxis from the rank at the terminal gate and agree the fare in advance (they are unmetered). The State Department says U.S. government staff may not use public transportation; avoid maxi taxis.

Fares are as reported by the sources below and change often. Treat them as estimates.
