Where ships dock

  • Portimão cruise terminal on the Arade river (smaller ships berth alongside)
  • Larger ships anchor offshore and tender to the cruise terminal quay

Getting to town

The town centre is about 1.5 to 2 km north along the flat riverside promenade, about 20 to 25 minutes on foot. Praia da Rocha is about 2.5 km south in the other direction (around 30 minutes on foot; a taxi is easier in the heat).

Taxis wait at the terminal. Lagos, Ponta da Piedade and Silves are about 25 to 40 minutes by road; ship tours or private drivers are the easy way to combine them.
